When I was a junior in high school, I had a chemistry teacher who made inappropriate comments to me (and, as it turns out, to a number of other girls). One day we were getting ready to take a test on the periodic table, and he was standing on a chair to remove the wall chart. I made a comment to a friend of mind that it'd be funny if the chair slipped and he fell (since I couldn't stand him), and he overheard and said, "I'll just make sure I fall that way on you, then." I replied, "I guess I can rest knowing you will fall, even it it's on me," and he responded, "No, you can rest knowing I've fallen FOR you." I turned around and asked my boyfriend sitting behind me if he'd heard what the teacher had said, and the teacher asked, "What, you can't have two boyfriends?" A few weeks later we were getting ready to do a lab experiment, and I asked for permission to go to the bathroom before we started. I had a flannel shirt on over my t-shirt, and he told me that I'd have to take it off for the lab and reached to take it off for me. I backed up and told him I would take it off when I returned. I did so and put on my apron. But before I could get it tied, he came up behind me, tied the apron, and smacked me on my ass.

For the rest of the class, I had my boyfriend stand behind me any time I had to bend over to check something, and after class I went to speak to the principal. The teacher was busted and wasn't allowed to teach in our district any more. But I have no clue what happened to him after that. It scares me to think that he may still be teaching in a different school district.

Back when I was new to the Internet, an online friend suggested that I add a photo to my online profile. Even though the photo wasn't suggestive at all, I received numerous e-mails that were absolutely disgusting and made me really uncomfortable. I ended up blocking several people from e-mailing or IMing me because what they were saying was so graphic.

In high school, a boy who rode my bus asked me if I wanted to help him shoot up the school. I reported him to the principal who then called the boy into his office. The boy admitted to it, but because he claimed he wasn't serious and because his grandfather was a county sheriff, his only punishment was to be transferred to an alternative school. And although I wasn't directly threatened, I felt as though I was because the boy only lived half a mile from me and I was the one who told on him.
