Welcome to the home page for How to Deal With Creepy People. I'm your host, Del Harvey, and I'm also an administrator and law enforcement liaison at another site called Perverted Justice. Perverted Justice is a group of trained civilians who go into online chatrooms and networking sites with underage profiles. Once there, the trained civilian simply waits; if an adult then contacts that profile and solicits what the adult believes to be a child for sex, then Perverted Justice works with the police to prosecute and convict that adult. My work with Perverted Justice more or less led to the creation of this site because the teen-safety sites I've seen don't address a lot of the issues that I think need to be addressed or do so in ways that don't seem all that helpful. For now, an explanation of what you're looking at.

Across the top of this page there are three links. The first is It Happened to Me. Given that this is a website about dealing with creepy people and not, say, knitting or skim boarding, you may safely assume that clicking on this link will take you to stories and images that others have shared about their own experiences with creepy people. We'll update this link with new stories and images every seven to ten days. While many stories have already been sent in, I hope some of you will be willing to share your own personal experiences. You'll find more information about how to do so on the Contact Us page. Be assured that the stories are carefully edited to ensure complete anonymity. Some of what you read in the It Happened to Me section is very disturbing (or it was to me, at least), so be forewarned.

The second link is How to Deal With It. Clicking on this link will again take you somewhere else--yes, links have a tendency to do that, I know. In this case the "somewhere else" encompasses a list of issues that you (or a friend or a friend of a friend, etc.) may be facing and suggestions on how to deal with them. The suggestions given are ones that friends and I have come up with. If you've had to deal with one of the issues covered and came up with a creative, effective way to deal with it that isn't mentioned, please feel free to e-mail it in; information about how to do so is on the Contact Us page too.

The third link is Predators in the News. As you can probably guess, it contains condensed summaries of stories about predators that were reported in the news. The link will be updated with new stories every seven to ten days.

Down the left side of this page, there are five more links:

Home, no matter how many times you click on it, will take you to this page right here.

Blog is . . . well, a blog that's updated from time to time with text, pictures, videos, or other random forms of media by either myself or my webdesigner.

Clicking FAQ will take you to a list of frequently asked questions about this website with the answers. If I get e-mailed a question frequently enough (and I'm not talking about one person e-mailing it seventy-three times, which would be incredibly annoying), I may add it.

Downloads is a section that has, essentially, a bunch of free stuff, ranging from music downloads (with information about the bands and/or musicians that submitted the music) to backgrounds (both with and without our logo, because we know how annoying logos can sometimes be on backgrounds) to icons and banners. If you have ideas for other stuff you'd like to see, let us know; yet again, go to the Contact Us page for the e-mail address.

Since the Contact Us link has been referenced in this welcome three times so far, it's probably pretty obvious by now that it gives you the e-mail addresses to use to ask for more information, to send in your own stories, or simple to send feedback.

Are there other things of note on this page? Why, yes. To the right of this welcome section, there's a news section. Site news, updates, and stuff like that will all get posted there.

So now you're all done being welcomed. I sincerely hope you will find this site to be informative and helpful.
